Key Transformer Applications in X-Ray Machines:

Step-Up (High-Voltage) Transformer: This component converts low voltage (typically 120–240 V) from the main power supply into the high-kilovoltage (kV) range (80,000–120,000 V) required to accelerate electrons across the X-ray tube.

Step-Down (Filament) Transformer: Used in the filament heating circuit, this transformer reduces voltage to a lower level while increasing current to heat the cathode filament, which releases electrons.

Auto Transformers (Variable Transformers): Used as a voltage compensator or selector, it adjusts the input voltage before it reaches the step-up transformer, allowing for precise control of the X-ray tube voltage.

Rectification Transformer Components: In modern generators, these work with solid-state rectifiers to convert the high-voltage alternating current (AC) into direct current (DC) for the X-ray tube.

Transformers in X-ray systems often feature specialized designs, such as a center ground, to provide both negative and positive high-voltage outputs to the tube. Modern designs may use high-frequency, smaller transformers for increased electrical efficiency
